One of the most famous images from the silent era of classic Hollywood can be found in Harold Lloyd's brilliant SAFETY LAST!: Lloyd clinging desperately to the hands of a city clock atop a skyscraper, as traffic drives past far below. In that vein, the torrent of perfectly executed gags and astonishing stunts in SAFETY LAST! makes it the perfect introduction to Lloyd and his endearingly death–defying brand of comedy. In the film he plays a small–town bumpkin haplessly trying to get by in the big city. When he finds a job as a department store clerk, he brainstorms a breathless publicity stunt to draw attention to the store. Laugh–out–loud and jaw–dropping in equal measure, SAFETY LAST! is a movie experience par excellence, anchored by a genuine legend
